Photography

I got my first SLR, a Vivitar 35mm, as a teenager. In high school, I learned how to darkroom develop my own prints and various techniques like Sabattier effect solarizations, Kodalith, et. al. In college, I shot photos for part-time work, for the school newspaper and yearbook. Photography continues to be an active hobby whether using DSLR, drone, or smartphone.

Triathlon

It wasn’t until post dotcom burnout that I discovered endurance events (I played varsity golf in college).  And I have Team in Training (TNT) to thank for an incredible 15 years volunteering for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.  During that period, I participated in dozens of triathlons, including Ironman, marathons, and other events (see partial list).  I became a USAT certified coach, and Level I and II Triathlon Coach trained by Ironman World Champion Dave Scott.  I’ve coached hundreds if not thousands of triathletes.  As TNT’s head coach, I’m proud of my 100% race completion rate of my athletes.

I also started a clothing business for triathletes.  There’s plenty of gear for working out, but almost nothing for triathletes to wear when not working out.  And why not brag subtly while connecting with other triathletes?  Check out my triathlete clothing at TriathleteStreet.com.

Dogs

I’ve got a real passion for dogs. While I’ve never worked professionally with dogs, I love dogs and have really enjoyed working with my personal dogs over the years. Friends often ask for my advice on various topics about dogs. Even renown trainers, like Michael Wombacher, have said that I could be a professional dog trainer.

If your getting your first dog, or you just want to get the most out of your experience with your dog, I highly suggest shifting your thinking from “training your dog” to “communicating better with your dog.” Great way to start is with these two books.

I also advocate for off-leash control and have worked hard to help preserve dog and dog-parent rights in Golden Gate National Recreation Area (GGNRA) run by the National Park Services (NPS), over which we saw a victory in 2017.

Community

I volunteered with Team in Training (TNT), part of Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) for over 15 years. Over that period, I raised $10,000’s to fight cancer, qualified as a “quadruple crown” winner (participating in 17 triathlon seasons, 1 Ironteam, 2 marathon seasons, and 1 cycle season), and personally completed dozens of races. Eight out of those seasons, I coached 1,000’s of athletes (with teams of 100+ athletes each) and am really proud of my record: 100% race completion of my athletes as head coach! I met lots of fantastic people and made lifelong friends and memories.

I can’t express my love, gratitude, respect, and appreciation for TNT and LLS enough. If you’ve ever dreamed of doing an endurance event, start with TNT.

GO TEAM!

Genealogy

A black background with a plane flying in the sky.

Son of a Bengali Indian father, Australian mother of mostly Scottish and Irish heritage, researching my family heritage is not straight forward.  But, thanks to research done by others in my family, I’ve been able to put a lot of pieces together.  Check out my family tree, and if you have any info about any additional branches, I’d love to hear from you.
